Hashabiah son of is named in 1 Chronicles 25 among musicians appointed by to prophesy with harps, psalteries, and cymbals. He was one of the sons of Jeduthun, one of the three chief musicians alongside and Heman. The twenty-four courses of musicians were determined by lot, and the lot fell to the twelfth course for Hashabiah, meaning his division served in the twelfth rotation of the musical ministry. Along with his brothers and their father Jeduthun, he was appointed for service in song in the house of the LORD.
