Hamul was the younger son of (also spelled Perez) and grandson of , listed alongside his brother Hezron in Genesis 46:12 among those who went with to . Numbers 26:21 names the Hamulites as a Judahite clan descended from him, one of the clans enumerated in the second wilderness census. He appears again in 1 Chronicles 2:5 in the genealogy of Judah.
