Son of Noah and ancestor of several peoples in Genesis.
Who or what is this?
Second son of and father of Cush, Mizraim (Egypt), Put, and , ancestor of many of the peoples Israel will later encounter. He sees his father's nakedness and tells his brothers, and Noah's oracle pronounces a curse on Ham's son Canaan and his descendants. The Table of Nations in Genesis 10 organizes the Hamitic peoples of Africa and the southern Levant under his name. Psalms recall Egypt as the land of Ham when remembering the exodus.
