Hadad is a name borne by several individuals in the Old Testament. Genesis 25:15 (and 1 Chronicles 1:30) lists (some manuscripts read Hadad) among the twelve sons of and princes of their nations. Genesis 36:35–36 names a king of Edom called Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the field of and reigned before any king ruled Israel; a second king named Hadar (or Hadad in some manuscripts) appears at the end of the same king list in Genesis 36:39. These figures are distinct from Hadad the Edomite adversary of and from the storm-deity Hadad worshipped in .
