Who or what is this?
Gabriel is one of the named angels in the Bible, presented as a heavenly messenger who stands in the presence of God and is sent to deliver divine communications to human recipients. In the book of he appears twice: first to interpret the vision of the ram and the goat (Daniel 8), and again to give Daniel understanding of the seventy weeks prophecy (Daniel 9). In 's Gospel Gabriel announces to the elderly priest Zechariah that his wife will bear a son to be named John, and later he appears to in to announce that she will conceive and bear . In both Lukan annunciations he identifies himself explicitly: 'I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God.'
