He performs elaborate sign-acts, eats a scroll, lies on his side for hundreds of days, and refrains from mourning his wife to dramatize the coming destruction of . After the city falls his oracles turn toward restoration, culminating in the valley of dry bones, the reunion of and Israel, and a vast temple vision in which the glory returns and the river flows out to heal the land.
