Ezar (sometimes rendered Ezer in parallel texts) appears in 1 Chronicles 1:38 as one of the sons of the , whose descendants were the indigenous inhabitants of Edom before the displaced them. Genesis 36 lists the Horite chiefs of Seir, and Ezar is included in both the Genesis passage and the 1 Chronicles genealogical summary. No narrative deeds are attributed to him; his significance is genealogical, marking him as a Horite chief whose clans occupied the hill country of Seir before 's descendants took possession of the land.
