Evi was one of the five kings of Midian slain by the in the campaign recorded in Numbers 31. sent twelve thousand warriors under the command of the priest against Midian in retribution for the incident at , and the Israelites killed all five kings: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and . They also killed the son of Beor in that battle. The same five kings are mentioned in 13:21, where they are described as princes of Midian and vassals of king of the .
