Royal scribe of King Jehoiakim in whose chamber Jeremiah's scroll was kept, and grandfather of Ishmael who later killed Gedaliah.

Elishama the served at the court of King of in the years before the conquest of . In Jeremiah 36, when read the scroll of Jeremiah's prophecies aloud in , the officials gathered in the chamber of Elishama the scribe to hear a report of its contents. The scroll was then stored in Elishama's chamber before being brought and read before King Jehoiakim, who cut it apart and burned it. Elishama's connection to the royal family is also traced in Jeremiah 41, where the assassin of is identified as the son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the royal seed.
