Who or what is this?
Dinah was the daughter of and , named among Jacob's children in Genesis 30:21 and central to the events of Genesis 34. When she went out to visit the daughters of the land of , son of Hamor the saw her, took her, and lay with her by force. Shechem then sought to marry her, and his father Hamor negotiated with Jacob and his sons. Jacob's sons and Levi, enraged at what had been done, deceived the men of the city by requiring circumcision, then killed all the males while they were recovering. Jacob rebuked Simeon and Levi for endangering the household, but they defended the honor of their sister. Dinah is not named again after this episode.
