Son of Elimelech and Naomi, husband of Orpah, who died in Moab and left no descendants according to the book of Ruth.
Who or what is this?
Chilion was one of the two sons of and of Bethlehem-judah, the younger brother of . When famine struck , the family sojourned in , where Chilion married a woman named Orpah. After Elimelech died, both Mahlon and Chilion also died in Moab, leaving Naomi bereft of husband and sons ( 1:1–5). Orpah eventually returned to her people at Naomi's urging, while Ruth, Mahlon's widow, clung to Naomi. Chilion is not mentioned in any other narrative, and his line ended with his death.
