King of Elam who dominated the cities of the plain for twelve years before Abraham defeated his coalition to rescue Lot (Genesis 14).
Who or what is this?
Chedorlaomer was king of and the dominant figure in a coalition of four eastern kings in the time of (Genesis 14). For twelve years the five kings of the cities of the plain — including and — had been subject to him; in the thirteenth year they rebelled, and in the fourteenth Chedorlaomer and his allied kings swept through Transjordan and the Negev, defeating multiple peoples, before confronting and routing the five rebel kings in the valley of Siddim. In the battle, Abraham's nephew Lot was taken captive. Abraham gathered 318 trained men and pursued Chedorlaomer's forces to Dan and beyond , defeating them and recovering Lot, the other captives, and the plunder. Chedorlaomer is not mentioned again after this episode.
