King of Gomorrah who joined the rebellion against Chedorlaomer in the valley of Siddim during the time of Abraham (Genesis 14).
Who or what is this?
Birsha is named in Genesis 14:2 as king of at the time of the war of the kings. Along with of and three other kings of the cities of the plain, he had served king of for twelve years before joining the rebellion that brought the allied eastern kings to the valley of Siddim. The five kings were defeated, their cities plundered, and many captives taken, including Lot. Scripture records nothing further about Birsha after this episode, and Gomorrah is later destroyed along with Sodom in Genesis 19.
