Firstborn son of Benjamin and grandson of Jacob, ancestor of the Benjaminite Belaite clan and father of several tribal sub-clans.
Who or what is this?
Bela was the firstborn son of and thus a grandson of . He is listed among the seventy souls who went with Jacob into (Genesis 46). In Numbers 26 his descendants are named the Belaites, one of the recognized clans of the tribe of Benjamin. First Chronicles 7 and 8 expand his genealogy, naming his sons Addar, , Abihud, , , Ahoah, Gera, Shephuphan, and Huram, who became heads of Benjaminite families and valiant warriors.
