served as the captain of King 's bodyguard in . After Nebuchadnezzar dreamed a troubling dream and none of the wise men could interpret it, he decreed that all the wise men of Babylon should be killed, and Arioch was dispatched to carry out the execution. The young exile , upon hearing of the decree, approached Arioch and asked why the king's commandment was so severe. Arioch explained the situation, and Daniel then sought time from the king to interpret the dream. After God revealed the dream to Daniel, Daniel returned to Arioch and asked him to bring him before the king, and the crisis was averted (Daniel 2).
