Who or what is this?

Amoz is known in Scripture solely as the father of the prophet . The book of Isaiah opens with the words 'The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz' (Isaiah 1:1), and his name recurs in the superscriptions of Isaiah's oracles and in the historical narratives of 2 Kings 19–20 and 2 Chronicles 26, 32, where Isaiah is consistently identified as 'the son of Amoz.' Nothing further is recorded about Amoz himself; his significance is entirely as the identifying mark of his son's lineage.
