Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai was the appointed prince of the during Israel's wilderness period. He is named in Numbers 1 as one of the twelve tribal leaders assisting and in the first census, in which the Danites numbered 62,700 fighting men—making Dan one of the largest tribes. In Numbers 7 he presented his offering on the twelfth and final day of the tabernacle dedication. In Numbers 10 his tribe formed the rear guard of the march through the wilderness.
