Who or what is this?
Adin was the ancestor of a prominent family that returned to from the exile. The Book of records 454 descendants of Adin returning with (Ezra 2:15), while 7:20 lists 655, and a further group of 51 males returned with Ezra himself in the second wave (Ezra 8:6). Members of the family also joined in sealing the covenant renewal under Nehemiah (Nehemiah 10:16). He himself is known only through these lists, but his clan was evidently sizable and enduring.
