Who or what is this?
Achsah was the daughter of son of Jephunneh, the faithful Judahite spy. Caleb offered her in marriage to whoever could capture Kiriath-sepher (Debir), and his kinsman —who later became the first judge of Israel—won her hand ( 15; Judges 1). After the marriage she persuaded both her new husband and her father to grant her land; she asked specifically for springs of water to complement the dry Negeb land she had received, and Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs. She is one of the few women named in the conquest narratives and her bold request is presented approvingly.
