Who or what is this?

Abiel was a Benjamite and an ancestor of the royal house of Israel. According to 1 9, he was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of Saul, making Abiel Saul's paternal grandfather. He also fathered Ner, who became the father of , Saul's military commander—placing Abiel as the common ancestor of both the first king of Israel and his general. The genealogy is confirmed in 1 Samuel 14 where Abner is identified as Ner's son and Kish's nephew, both sons of Abiel.
