The lampstand is the seven-branched lamp of pure hammered gold commanded for the tabernacle's holy place, its base, shaft, cups, buds, and flowers of one piece (Exodus 25:31-40), made by (Exodus 37:17-20) and tended by so that its seven lamps burn before continually (Numbers 8:2-4; Leviticus 24:4). makes ten gold lampstands for the temple, five on the right and five on the left before the inner sanctuary (1 Kings 7:49; 2 Chronicles 4:7), and the Babylonians carry the lampstands away at 's fall (Jeremiah 52:19). appeals to the lamp set on a stand as an image of light that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:15; Mark 4:21; Luke 8:16). sees a gold lampstand with seven lamps flanked by two olive trees (Zechariah 4:2, 11).
