# Script Bible brand kit

Version 2 · September 2026

## The chosen identity

Script Bible pairs a flowing **S bookmark** with **Alegreya Medium (500)**. The mark has a gently slanted upper edge (about 12 degrees), a dovetail foot, and two curved openings that let a broad S ribbon emerge. Keep both openings. This is the split-ribbon bookmark, not the later continuous flame experiment, shield, or search-bracket concept.

The production bookmark is a vector trace of the selected concept refined into the selected B2 design: a slightly lowered gentle-slant top, short rounded curl endings, and a very slight upward turn at the upper tip. `bookmark-master.svg` is its geometry source. Every shipped icon and logo derives from it. The wordmark is shaped with HarfBuzz using the bundled Alegreya font, including its kerning, then converted to paths with FontTools. No font installation or network request is needed to display the SVG logos.

## Color

| Color        | Hex       | Role                                        |
| ------------ | --------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| Espresso     | `#261914` | Dark grounds and light-background lettering |
| Antique gold | `#B68D49` | Flat bookmark and highlights                |
| Oxblood      | `#641F2B` | Secondary brand ground                      |
| Parchment    | `#F4EEE3` | Light grounds and reversed lettering        |

App icons use restrained diagonal gradients. Gold runs from `#E4C98C` through `#C4A15E` to `#AA7D39`; espresso from `#453026` to `#20140F`; oxblood from `#8A3C47` to `#511924`; parchment from `#FFFCF6` to `#E7DCC8`. The silhouette must remain clear without the gradient. Use espresso for small text on light backgrounds, not gold.

## Typography

- **Logo:** Alegreya Medium, upright, weight 500. Use the outlined asset rather than typing a replacement.
- **Supporting typography:** Cormorant for expressive headings and Crimson Pro for a traditional reading feel are possible companions. They are not part of the wordmark and are not introduced as global site fonts by this kit. Existing reader font preferences remain intact.
- **Interface:** a clear sans serif for controls, navigation, and labels.
- Alegreya is distributed under the SIL Open Font License; see `fonts/OFL.txt`. The unmodified font file is included for reproduction. Source: <https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Alegreya>.

The social SVG embeds a JPEG texture; its logo and lettering are vector paths. The lettering has a solid #C4A15E fill with a subpixel dark upper edge and a faint lower highlight to suggest pressed gold foil; there is no gradient on the letters. Lettering in full lockups sits slightly below geometric center for optical balance. All other SVG marks, logos, and icons are entirely vector. The original texture is included as `leather-texture.jpg`.

App sources are **full-square and opaque**. Do not bake rounded corners into an iOS source. Devices apply their own masks. The symbol fits within the central 80%-diameter maskable safe circle. The repository also supplies 180 px Apple touch, 192/512 px PWA, SVG/ICO browser, and universal 1024 px iOS assets from the same master.

## Use

Leave at least half a bookmark's width around the visible logo. Keep complete lockups at least 180 CSS pixels wide; use the icon for smaller placements. Preview at the intended size, especially 16 and 32 px, to make sure both cuts remain legible. Use the light logo on dark grounds and the dark logo on light grounds. Do not stretch, rotate, redraw the S, substitute a typeface, or add a cross, flame, border, or slogan to the logo.

For collaborations, keep the partner's identity separate with generous space. Link the Script Bible identity to `https://script.bible`. Using the files to identify Script Bible does not itself indicate a partnership or endorsement.

## Rebuild the exact assets

In the repository, after `bun install`:

```sh
uv run scripts/generate-brand-assets.py
```

The script pins FontTools, HarfBuzz, and Pillow via inline Python dependency metadata. It uses the project's installed Sharp renderer through Bun. Inputs are `public/brand/bookmark-master.svg`, `public/brand/fonts/Alegreya-Medium.ttf`, and `public/brand/leather-texture.jpg`. It regenerates SVG/PNG outputs, favicon files, PWA/touch icons, the iOS asset catalog, and `script-brand-kit.zip`. Update this guide before rebuilding the ZIP.

Exact reproduction needs no image-generation service. The leather was created with the built-in imagegen tool; typography, logo geometry, gradients, and layout are deterministic vector composition. Image generators are useful for exploring materials and contexts, but their lettering and repeated logos can drift. Always use the vector masters for production.

## Prompts for other image generators

Attach `mark-gold.svg` (or its PNG) as the **symbol reference**, and `logo-primary.png` as the **exact wordmark reference**. State which reference controls which part. Use these prompts as exploratory briefs, not a guarantee that a model will preserve the geometry.

### Full identity render

> Create a refined identity presentation for Script Bible, a Bible reading and study app. Preserve the attached split-ribbon S bookmark exactly: slightly lowered gently rising top at about 12 degrees, short rounded gold tips with a tiny upward turn at the upper tip, two curved openings, broad flowing S, and dovetail bottom. Pair it with the attached Alegreya Medium wordmark, spelled exactly “Script Bible.” Antique gold #B68D49, espresso #261914, oxblood #641F2B, parchment #F4EEE3. Show one spacious horizontal signature, one reversed signature, and one app icon. Use simple editorial composition. Keep symbol geometry consistent across all views. No shield, cross, flame, search icon, invented tagline, extra ribbon fold, or ornamental flourish. Never merge the two openings into a continuous gold flame.

### App icon with restrained depth

> A full-square, edge-to-edge 1024 × 1024 app-icon source. Center the exact supplied S bookmark. Gentle antique-gold gradient from #E4C98C through #C4A15E to #AA7D39 on a deep espresso ground subtly shifting from #453026 to #20140F. Broad flat surfaces with just enough light to suggest dimension. The mark occupies roughly 29.5% of canvas width and 66.4% of canvas height, centered. No rounded outer corners, lettering, cast shadow, glow, bevel, glass, metallic glitter, or extra symbols. Preserve both curved openings at small sizes. Opaque output.

### Blank leather texture (production background prompt)

> A photorealistic premium dark espresso-brown leather texture for a Bible app social sharing card. Landscape 1.91:1 composition, straight-on macro photograph of smooth fine-grained polished calfskin, barely perceptible tiny shallow pores and low-contrast grain. Near-black espresso #17100D to #241914, gently brighter at upper left and darker at lower right, diffuse raking light. Entire frame filled with leather. Center quiet enough for a large gold logo. No book edges, spine, objects, lettering, logos, cross, border, stitching, embossing, gold flecks, scratches, distressed cracks, artificial glitter, dramatic beams, plastic shine, or coarse handbag texture. This is a blank texture plate; no text.

### Leather social render

> A landscape 1200 × 630 social card evoking a beautifully bound Bible. Fine, understated espresso leather grain fills the frame. The supplied S bookmark and exact Alegreya wordmark form one centered horizontal signature: subtly shaded gold on the bookmark and solid antique gold #C4A15E on the lettering, with a delicate pressed edge. A very fine inset gold rule frames the composition. Beneath the logo, set “Read Scripture. Study the text.” in parchment, and “script.bible” smaller near the bottom. Plenty of negative space, tactile material, calm lighting. No alternate slogan, extra religious imagery, warped lettering, chrome effects, strong bevels, or heavy shadow. Preserve the logo exactly.

For exact social output, generate only the blank texture, then use the rebuild script to place the real outlined wordmark and symbol over it.

## Compare a new render

1. Does it retain the two-cut S bookmark and dovetail, rather than the discarded continuous flame?
2. Is “Script Bible” accurate, and is the lettering genuinely Alegreya Medium when used in production?
3. Does the mark have the same geometry in every instance?
4. Does it remain readable at icon and email sizes?
5. Are light/dark versions high contrast, with subtle rather than shiny gradients?
6. Are transparent logos actually transparent, and app sources opaque and full-square?
